Countdown: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Dungeon Crawl #4 - Still An All-Timer

Nintendo Life

Forested Development. I left last week's Ocarina of Time feature feeling like I might have been a little too negative about the whole thing. Three weeks into my playthrough, and I had just poo-pooed back-to-back puzzle boxes. Well, fear not, because I'm swinging in the complete opposite direction this time. This is part four of my Dungeon Crawl series, where I revisit one OoT dungeon each week in the run-up to the Switch 2 remake. Just as with the previous three editions, I'm going into dungeon specifics here, so if you've never played OoT before and you are saving yourself for the remake, just know that there are spoilers ahead! Preview: 'Muramasa: Revenant Blades' Polishes Vanillaware's Gem To Shine Brighter Than Ever

Nintendo Life

Reforged. Muramasa: The Demon Blade originally launched on the Wii back in 2009, a title that we called "gorgeous, engrossing," and even underrated. We’ve been hoping to see a modern port of this gem for a long time now, and Vanillaware has delivered, with Muramasa: Revenant Blades coming to both Switch 1 and 2 in February next year. The PS Vita received Muramasa Rebirth in 2013, bringing updated music and localisation, followed by the Genroku Legends DLC, which added four new playable stories in addition to the original two. Review: Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen (Switch 2) - An Action RPG Great Returns In Fine Form

Nintendo Life

Wolves hunt in packs, Arisen. While travelling the frigid wastes of Norgan, my Pawns and I were assailed by a band of Hobgoblins, and due to my poor leadership skills – causing multiple groups to aggro at once by running by instead of dealing with them then and there – we were overwhelmed. The tide was finally turning as I swung my great axe knocking about three over at once, allowing me to run over to my sorcerer who needed reviving. Then, from out of nowhere, a snow ogre appeared from offscreen, knocked me clean out with a haymaker, picked my limp body up, and used it as a club to batter my party and the hobgoblins with. After, he ran off to his den like nothing ever happened. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Opinion: Elden Ring Is One Of My Favourite Games That I've Hardly Played

Nintendo Life

Going out on a Limgrave. I have started a new Elden Ring save file on four separate occasions now, and I have absolutely adored my time with each of them. And yet, despite putting 15-20 hours minimum into each new load, my current Switch 2 playthrough is the first time that I've managed to push through the 'tutorial area'. I need to do some explaining here, because if you have never ventured into the Lands Between, then three save files and 60+ hours spent in a tutorial sounds insane. Review: Order Of The Sinking Star (Switch 2) - Intense, Sometimes Gruelling, But Always Inventive

Nintendo Life

What a puzzler. Order of the Sinking Star is not for the weak-willed. The latest puzzle adventure from Jonathan Blow (Braid, The Witness) makes the player earn their wins, rewarding them with an intriguing, slowly unfurling story set in a mystical plane beyond comprehension. My many hours spent staring at these puzzle boards with steam blowing out of my ears and veins popping out of my forehead made for a sometimes painful experience, but one that left me appreciating the genius of the game’s design. The opening seconds are mysterious and intriguing enough to propel you through the game’s brain teasers. Rather than meeting an NPC that tediously explains exactly what’s going on, we’re put in the shoes of our unnamed protagonist who is trying to make sense of the world they have seemingly just spawned into. They call out for their friends to no avail, wondering if they have stumbled into the afterlife. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

No, I don’t mean the stuff that just anyone with a ticket and the patience to wait in an enormous queue could play. No, I got a chance to play sports that the average Joes could only dream of, like table tennis. I played prop plane, table tennis, archery, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, bowling, and boxing, but not necessarily in that order. Mini Review: KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) - A Fair Switch 2 Port Of An Enjoyable 'Conclusion'

Nintendo Life

The end of the beginning. There was a lot of hype and excitement in the lead-up to 2019's Kingdom Hearts 3. It promised to finally conclude the Dark Seeker Saga that had kicked off way back on the PS2 in 2002. Expectations were sky-high and the final product didn't quite stick the landing, but it did manage to deliver plenty of that sincere Kingdom Hearts magic that kept us invested since the beginning. Now that it's finally come to Switch 2 with a proper native port — no Cloud Versions here — I'm pleased to report that it was largely worth the wait. Narratively, this adventure is very bizarrely paced, with a lot of meaningless detours into unrelated and largely irrelevant Disney stories before a sudden lightspeed attempt to resolve all the major subplots. The story is thus unsatisfying and not really given the necessary time to breathe, yet it’s also something that you can’t help but love despite it all. Sora’s earnest optimism, the frequent goofy monologues on the power of friendship, and the shoehorned ways in which the party is inserted into known Disney stories somehow all come together in an incredibly charming and pleasant way, making it feel like a worthwhile journey despite shortcomings. First up, and what is undoubtedly the highlight for us, is the addition of the original soundtrack on Nintendo Music. NBA 2K25 Sounds The Buzzer On Its Best Game Modes, With A Delist & Server Shutdown Inbound

Nintendo Life

MyCareer and MyTeam hit the bench. We NBA 2K fans are no strangers to an online server shutdown, but 2K is pushing the boat out even further this year, as it has announced that NBA 2K25 is being fully delisted later this month, with the ensuing server closings pruning the title's two best game modes (thanks for the heads up, VGC). The publisher recently took to the 2K25 Steam page to announce that the game will be removed from online storefronts on 30th October 2026, with all online content shutting up shop on 31st December. Those who already own the 2024 edition will be able to redownload it after the October cutoff, but all online modes will be gone for good as of January 2027. Mini Review: KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (Switch 2)

Nintendo Life

A bit of a sleeper. In the lead-up to Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix needed some fresh content to rebuild interest in the franchise after it had been dormant for years outside of mobile games. After porting over the collections of most of the earlier games to more modern platforms, the company then decided to squeeze out one last collection to hoover up the stragglers into one package. Dubbed Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the value proposition on this one is undeniably lesser, but there’s still plenty to love about it. The core of this release is Kingdom Hearts 3D, the 3DS spinoff that acted as the first chronological sequel to Kingdom Hearts 2 and the prelude to the series finale. Here, you play as both Sora and Riku in a tag-team sort of adventure where the two are given the shared assignment of awakening various Sleeping Worlds to complete the Mark of Mastery exam and officially step up as Keyblade Masters. Mini Review: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- (Switch 2)

Nintendo Life

Not a cloud in sight. The Kingdom Hearts series has a long and storied history with Nintendo handhelds dating back all the way to the GBA, though (debatably) there have never been any mainline titles developed for them. The ultimate monkey's paw then curled with the Switch, when Square Enix answered fan wishes to port over remastered collections, but they were delivered as icky cloud games. Luckily the company has since seen the error of its ways, and it's now released native versions for Switch 2 that deliver the full and proper experience, starting strong with Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMix. Review: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered (Switch 2) - A Huge Upgrade For An All-Time Great

Nintendo Life

Rivi-awesome. Getting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to run on the original Nintendo Switch was an achievement in itself. Some obvious concessions had to be made, especially surrounding the visuals. Character models looked rather murky and the foliage around our protagonist Geralt had to be drastically toned down. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, that issue has mostly been resolved. Thanks to the increased power of the Switch 2, this adventure has never looked better. Although some performance inconsistencies remain and a few combat overhauls not having as much of an impact as hoped, this is the definitive version of one of the best RPGs of all time. Review: Minecraft Dungeons II (Switch 2) - A Fun But Flawed Dungeon-Crawling Sequel With Great Co-Op

Nintendo Life

Creepers, Skellies, oh my. A traditional adventure format seems an ill fit for something as freeform as Minecraft. The Markus 'Notch' Persson-created global phenomenon is an experience built on creativity with endless scope for experimentation, so constricting it within the boundaries of genre seems misguided. That said, the franchise has enough cultural pull that it drove audiences to brandish wild animals in movie theatres, so there is clear versatility in this IP. Minecraft Dungeons spun off from the main game in 2020 as a Diablo-like dungeon crawler brimming with character-building potential and co-operative fun for all ages. It boasts the polygonal art style and iconography beloved by fans, presenting a simple yet satisfying loot-based RPG experience. The sequel expands on this formula further by moving from episodic progression to open-world exploration and adding more depth to the basic combat and traversal loop.
