PSVR2 Misses Out on Virtual Reality Phoenix Wright Release

I wouldn't have objected to it. You won’t be screaming “objection” with your PSVR2 headset equipped next year, as AMATA Games has decided not to release its virtual reality version of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for Sony’s headset. Announced for the Meta Quest and new Meta VR Glasses overnight, this is an adaptation of the fifth main entry in Capcom’s courtroom battle series, developed under license. It’s due out in 2027. Obsidian Remains 'Distinct' and Keeps Leadership Team After Being Absorbed by Bethesda

Updates on new Fallout game in the coming months. The Outer Worlds and Avowed studio Obsidian should not see too many changes to its day-to-day workings after being absorbed by Bethesda, the publisher claims. Instead, it's more of just a change in Obsidian's reporting structure. In an internal memo seen and published online by IGN , Bethesda boss Jill Braff explained that the "creative identity and strengths that make Obsidian distinct will remain at the core of their studio and work". Obsidian will continue to be run by Feargus Urquhart and his leadership team, and they'll report to Braff. Read the full article on pushsquare.com

Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities Announced For Quest 3 And New Meta VR Glasses

There's more than one way to Brick Meta Glasses. As part of its "Meta Connect" event, Meta revealed its new Meta VR Glasses : a lightweight take on virtual reality that seems frankly magical compared to the classic Virtuality units of yore, or even PlayStation VR2 . The new hardware features micro OLED screens, motion capture support, and a battery and processor unit that clips onto the wearer's belt. In line with the new tech's announcement, several games have been revealed to kick off the sales drive. We've already covered Capcom's Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR , but publisher Enhance Games also revealed a new Tetris title , which will utilise the width and breadth of Meta VR technology. Steam Frame-ready VR rhythm game Beat Saber is adding hand-tracking and a punchy new mode in its "biggest update ever"

I’m not saying that the reveal of Beat Saber ’s " biggest update ever " was timed to coincide with a swell of VR interest induced by the new Steam Frame . But I am going to infer it, without evidence, before immediately moving on to what the sweaty sword-slashing rhythm game can expect when said update lands in Spring of 2027. First and foremost is an entire new mode, Flux. This sees Beat Saber ditch the sabers and dial up the beating, demanding your own bare hands punch, prod, and slap their way through notes. A Beat Saber Unarmed build, basically. Looks fun! If probably no less tiring. Read more

Want To Know More About The Origins Of Vault Boy? This New Video From Fallout's Creator Gets A Thumbs Up From Us

Tim Cain reflects on the famous piece of Fallout iconography. The post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout has a lot of famous iconography, but I'd argue none more so than Vault Boy. Debuting in the original Fallout in 1997, the blonde-haired, jumpsuit-wearing character has become the series's de facto mascot as it has grown to include sequels, spin-offs, and TV shows, and has also inevitably appeared across mountains of merchandise: from bobbleheads to lunchboxes, board games, and pretty much anything else Bethesda has released since it acquired the franchise almost 20 years ago. It's possible, though, that despite all that, you may still be unclear exactly how the character came to be in the first place, but luckily for you, Fallout creator Tim Cain has a new YouTube video that delves into exactly that. After eighteen years of jaggedy bowling, a new mod bestows GTA 4 with DLSS and FSR support

Rockstar’s modding guidelines , recently updated in advance of GTA 6 , say much about how you can’t dream up unofficial story missions, or give the upcoming instalment a cheeky unofficial PC port. But they don’t say a goddamn thing about crowbarring DLSS, DLAA, and FSR into 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV , which is exactly what ChunkLeChuck’s DLSS IV mod has gone and done. Read more

"slab_tiny" Boot Option Proposed For Tiny Linux Systems With Very Limited RAM

In 2022 the SLOB allocator was deprecated and removed with Linux 6.4 a year later. SLOB was popular with embedded systems with minimal amounts of RAM, so as a result the CONFIG_SLUB_TINY Kconfig option was then added for configuring the slab allocator for a minimal memory footprint for systems with 16MB of RAM or less. The CONFIG_SLUB_TINY is now on the chopping block with a proposed rework to the allocator code for making the "tiny" memory handling a boot time option...

Kid Icarus DX Brings Colour To The World Of Everyone's Favourite Game Boy Cherub

Get in the Pit. When the Game Boy Color hit the scene back in 1998, one of Nintendo's first duties was crafting new, full-colour editions of some of the platform's trademark titles. Tetris , The Legend of Zelda , Bomberman , R-Type , Wario Land and, of course, Super Mario were among the franchises that received a rainbow-washed facelift. But no such rerelease was waiting in the wings (pun fully intended) for Pit: the angelic star of one of the most loudly-requested "bring back that franchise" series in gaming, Kid Icarus . That is all set to change, however, thanks to homebrewer Astronaut_Majestic, who is currently working on Kid Icarus DX, an unofficial Game Boy Color port of Pit's 1991 release Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters . Following id layoffs, Quake Champions drops free-to-play nonsense and becomes a £9 game on Steam

After nearly a decade as a free-to-play game, Quake Champions is dropping all that nonsense in favour of being a nice and simple premium release on Steam . That means no more battle passes, no more loot boxes, no more premium currencies. They've even got rid of the store. If you've played the game through any free events on Steam in the past, then you will be upgraded to a full version of the game automatically. And if you've bought any premium currencies in the past two months will be refunded. On Consoles, Hype and Sales

I wanted to write down a couple of thoughts. I often see people debating the effect that certain things have on sales and the industry. I find the analysis usually a bit short-sighted, same way often CEOs focus just on the next quarter and not care about the longterm. OFFBEAT: Review on Linux and Steam Deck

Learn how to produce music with OFFBEAT, both a game and a music creating platform developed by Whetstone Games and published by Pantaloon. Works great on Steam Deck (Playable) and on Linux with Proton. The game starts with your uncle gifting you a music sequencer, and then asks you to create a ringtone with it. You plug your tiger keyboard (not a musical cat toy) and start making music with them. The music sequencer is your main producing tool allows you to set some inputs, pick the notes you want to play from each input and at which time they should play. It also allows you to set beats per minute, and the key of the composition. Once you are satisfied, you can save it to a cassette tape. The initial keyboard, for a toy, it is quite robust, it can mimic a piano, an organ, it also makes meows and engine revving sounds. There is a limit of 3 notes input at a time to create chords. By clicking on it, you can go to an interface that let you play it, or tweak its settings (which kind of sound you want it to make). But you don’t need to play the instrument, the sequencer will take care of that.

Gundam Celebrates 40 Years of Games with a Dedicated Broadcast Next Month

Rogue orbiting. It's an important time for Gundam in regards to video games, and not just because the fantastic looking Gundam Rogue Orbit is locked in for a March 2027 release. Hands On: Kraken Spinner For Octopus Arcade Stick - Arkanoid Fans, Rejoice

(Just be prepared for a lot of install time). TR Fight Stick's Octopus Arcade Stick might not be the cheapest control option on the market, but it's certainly one of the best, as it not only offers high-quality arcade-style input but also compatibility with a wide range of systems, including Dreamcast, MiSTer, PC and more. One of the big selling points of the Octopus was the fact that it could be upgraded or enhanced easily, and TR Fight Stick has released the first optional extra in the form of the $170 Kraken Spinner module – and the company was kind enough to send one out to me for testing. The Steam Machine handles Control Resonant capably, but the promised Steam Deck support is a letdown

Control Resonant is almost everything I wanted from a Remedy-flavoured character action game, including several sub-things I didn’t initially believe it would pull off. However, one particular ambition has failed to come good: the ability for me to play it in bed. Despite previously expressed plans for Steam Deck support, alas, Resonant needs to render just a bit too much paranturally skew-wiff Manhattan for it to comfortably run on Valve's handheld. The bigger, beefier Steam Machine is a different story, which is good, because otherwise this would be a very short article. But with Control Resonant lacking any public SteamOS hardware compatibility ratings just a day before release, consider this a warning: it’s a damn fine game, on almost any modern PC that isn’t a Deck. Microsoft want to record your face and feed it to a generative AI, telling it to go off and design a game from your frown

A new patent from Microsoft shows how they want to record your facial expressions, show them to an AI, and have it redesign the game you're playing. It's not only your face they want, but also any words you might be muttering, growls you might be making, or, dare I say, even purrs. The broader technology described in the patent is a process for game designers to prompt an AI to build out the narrative elements of a game, including objectives, sidequests, NPCs, dialogue, and items. Rather than stop at that first pass, the process would continue when players are in the game, analysing how they're playing to then generate new content based on their actions and reactions. A quick peek behind the curtain: I, too, am using this technology and the rest of this article has been rewritten to match exactly the facial expression you are making right… now. Read more

Video Game movies that HAVEN'T happened yet that you're surprised about?

Look, I KNOW. People have a sour viewpoint on game to film adaptations. But sometimes one comes and breaks the mold like the recent Resident Evil reboot or is an indie darling like Exit 8. Sometimes it's a crowd pleaser like Minecraft or Sonic. Most times it's a Warcraft or DoA. But i'm just wondering about the stuff Hollywood hasn't tried to adapt yet. Some wells feel like they've only begun to be tapped, while others feel like they haven't even started yet. Me personally, I would... Read more

Yo, Looking for Co-op board games recommendations for kids

Nephew's birthday coming up and he'll be 10 (clap clap clap) and I was thinking of getting him a board game where we can all play on the same team. He has a little sister (my niece) who is 7 who ' I'd like to include as well where ideally it'd still be a challenge for him.. We've not actually played a co-op board game together before. I don't think it's occurred to me or my family non-competitive board games exist. Frankly I know very little about the board game space. And I think it... Read more

Stuntboost is a Tech Dech, skateboarding platformer all about doing sick flips on cardboard constructs in your bedroom, and it's out now

I was not a child that was built for skateboarding. Child me was a tad too wimpy to ever do anything so wicked cool as that. What if I scuffed my knee a little bit, or worse, embarrassed myself? So I did what any skateboarding curious child would do and bought a Tech Deck. And then I never learned how to get good at it. I am only slightly bitter about this adolescent failure of mine, yet all is not lost, for there is an entire video game out today that can let me experience such a feat digitally: Stuntboost. GTA 6 Is Taking Over Miami, One Airlifted Letter At A Time

Haven't seen this one before but I figured that we should have a thread about the real life marketing stuff that's going up in Miami and around the country. Here's the coolest one going up today. Ahead of its release in November, the marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 has begun to take over Miami's Kaseya Center. As part of the campaign, developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive are decking out the stadium in giant GTA 6 letters that will spell out "Welcome to Vice... Click to expand... Furries, magical girls and slick hack 'n' slash combat blend promisingly together in the late 2000s inspired Break The Night

Despite not being one myself, I do seem to write about furry-adjacent games for this ole webbed site , don't I? And I've got another one for you today! It's called Break The Night, a hack 'n' slash with slick movement, roguelike elements, and magical girls inspired by aesthetics from the late 2000s, and while it's still quite early days yet, I've been quite charmed by it. Linux 7.2 vs. Linux 7.3 Shows A Few Improvements With AMD Strix Halo

Last week I ran some benchmarks showing performance gains for AMD Ryzen AI Max+ "Strix Halo" on Ubuntu 26.10. Then shortly after that testing on its daily state, which used the Linux 7.2 kernel, Canonical switched to Linux 7.3 as the Ubuntu 26.10 kernel. Here are some Linux 7.2 vs. Linux 7.3 benchmarks for the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" with the Framework Desktop...

Space Gun

After Operation Wolf and Operation Thunderbolt, Taito switched to a sci-fi setting for their next gallery shooter, Space Gun. Much as their previous games had drawn inspiration from American action movies, Space Gun is very obviously based on Aliens, as you explore a colony outpost that’s been overrun by xenomorphs. The game uses the same ... Space Gun was first posted on September 22, 2026 at 2:11 pm. ©2017-2025 " Hardcore Gaming 101 ". Use of this feed is for personal non-commercial use only. Packed Lair, out today, is a Tetris-adjacent base builder about cramming as much as you can into a tiny evil lair to aid your army in conquering the world

Real estate these days! No matter where you look, there's never enough space any more. I imagine this was the impetus for designing Packed Lair, a dungeony fusion of base building, auto battling, roguelikes and Tetris where you play as an evil lord who is trying to cram an entire empire into an incredibly cramped lair that's out today. LTTP: Final Fantasy 7 Remake

I originally started playing this a year or two back but put it down out of both boredom and annoying as hell gameplay. I decided to pick up where I left off because people rave about Rebirth and so I wanted to give this another shot. First off, whoever designed a battle system where your characters spend 70% of the time being bounced around and unable to move should be ashamed of themselves. It is infuriating and battles make up 95% of the game. So I invariably spent 95% of the time... Read more

Love 'em or hate 'em, if it weren't for the Sonic the Hedgehog films, the blue blur might have been canned entirely, so says series boss Takashi Iizuka

I like Sonic. He charms me! But that doesn't mean I'm a fool. I know there are very few of his games that could actually be called "good," whatever that word might mean, I just don't care. Except making not good games, and having a reputation for doing so, will obviously result in waning returns financially. So it isn't a surprise to hear from Sonic boss Takashi Iizuka that, once upon a time, the entire series was at risk of cancellation. Which is where those of you that like the games but hate the movies need to say some thank yous. Read more

Prebuilt Steam Machine faceplate screens are here, delivering decent, surprisingly cheaper alternatives to Valve-approved DIY builds

If you own a Steam Machine , and still cling to the misconception that my budget faceplate ideas aren’t good enough for you, you basically have three options for front panel customisation. The first is to grab something off Etsy or suchlike. The second is take advantage of Valve’s open-source Inkterface project to build yourself an E-Ink display, onto which you can electronically daub performance monitoring info. The third is to end up with more or less the same panel as option two, but have someone else make it for you. That’s what arch accessory makers JSAUX are proposing with their Steam Machine E-Ink and Pixel Matrix faceplates , which go on sale today after a few weeks of preening around the case mod scene. I’ve been using both on my Machine at home, and they’re quite good fun. The E-Ink faceplate, for which I sense the greater internet buzz, is a crisp, tidy little black-and-white panel, while the PixelMatrix trades detail density for colour and retro charm. Both have a few different display modes, switchable in SteamOS’s quick settings menu (via some clever integration with the Decky Loader plugin tool), and while I had to set this up manually, JSAUX say the requisite software will be downloadable via Steam itself from early October. Truly, it’s all the results of a DIY mod and more, conveniently pre-prepared for people who don’t own soldering irons. Read more

'Contains the entire museum and plays nothing at all'. The curator of the unofficial " Game Boy Museum " has finished work on the its newest attraction, a database of the exhibition's entire itinerary, squeezed down to the size of a Game Boy cart itself. The site is dedicated to the enduring legacy of Nintendo's best-selling handheld , first released in the spring of 1989.
